Petr Olegovich Aven is a leading Russian businessperson with close links to President Vladimir Putin dating back to the early 1990s. He holds significant shareholding in ABH Holdings, which controlled Alfa Bank and other Alfa Group companies, and is one of approximately 50 wealthy Russian businessmen who regularly meet with Putin. He was sanctioned for indirectly supporting Russian military operations, as his insurance company (AlfaStrakhovanie) provides coverage to Russia's National Guard units operating in occupied Ukraine and to weapons manufacturers supplying Russian forces.
